Chicago – Abby Rose has never shied away from a challenge: as the first female Marine to pass the Corps’ Howitzer Section Chief Course, a rising star in the adult industry, and a dedicated mental health advocate, she has always pushed boundaries – but one of her most personal and impactful projects is The Happy Bean Project – a nonprofit coffee initiative she founded in 2019 to support individuals struggling with mental health challenges.
Mental health awareness isn’t just a passion for Rose—it’s personal. “My brother has struggled with mental health, drug addiction, and homelessness for over a decade. I was diagnosed as bipolar while serving in the Marine Corps. I know firsthand how important support and understanding are,” said Rose. “That’s why I started The Happy Bean Project—to create a space where people feel seen, valued, and supported.”
What began as a small online coffee shop quickly grew into a hands-on outreach program, providing free coffee and resources to those in need. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, The Happy Bean Project was operating in multiple cities across the U.S. and Canada, with teams of volunteers bringing warm drinks and conversation to homeless communities. Now based in Texas, the initiative continues to serve people in need through local outreach events, helping connect individuals with mental health resources, housing, and employment assistance.
Even with her growing career in the adult industry, Rose remains committed to her mission. “Mental health is something I will always be open to talking about. It’s something that affects so many people—especially in high-stress jobs like the military and entertainment industries,” she said. “No matter what I do in my career, I will continue to give back and spread awareness.”
