Chicago – Rachel Steele lends her perspective to a timely new Playboy feature, “It’s Not Just Gas. ‘Pornflation’ Is Here,” weighing in on how rising costs are affecting adult creators, independent producers and premium content platforms.

The article examines Clips4Sale’s new Kink Consumer Index and the broader affordability crunch hitting adult content, with Steele offering a candid look at the real numbers behind producing high-quality independent scenes.

“The cost of production has definitely gone up,” Steele told Playboy, noting that a 30-minute film can cost about $5,000 once talent, locations, photographers, videographers, monthly testing and behind-the-scenes crew are factored in.

Steele, the veteran creator behind Red MILF Productions and Rachel-Steele.com, also spoke to the constant budgeting that comes with running a creator-owned studio in today’s market. “I secretly do the math,” Steele said. “I’m counting all the women in the room. I’m counting all the guys and the videographers and the assistants and the sound guy and I’m just estimating.”

While many creators are reconsidering pricing in response to rising overhead, Steele told Playboy she has not considered raising the flat subscription rate for Rachel-Steele.com, which gives members access to thousands of films spanning more than 20 years, though she has made “a bit of an increase” on custom videos.
