Season Record 11 – 5

Thursday

Detroit @ Buffalo – The Bills opened the season last week on the road playing a solid Texans team and posted impressive numbers on their way to a victory. Detroit struggled against the Saints at home but managed to squeak by with a win. A strong Bills team along with the excitement of opening a new stadium will be a little too much for the Lions to overcome. Bills 34 Lions 24

Sunday

Carolina @ Atlanta – Offensively, the Panthers played well enough to win Sunday against the Bears scoring 37 points. Yet their defense could not stop the Bears as they rolled up 59 points. The Falcons offense barely showed up Sunday against the Steelers as they totaled less than 200 yards of total offense as they ended up starting their third string QB. Carolina 31 Atlanta 17

New Orleans @ Baltimore – Did the Saints play above their heads or were the Lions flat Sunday? A little of both, but this week the competition does not get any easier. On both sides of the ball the Ravens dominated the Colts. It will be a long day for the Saints. Ravens 30 Saints 17

Minnesota @ ChicagoChicago’s offense appeared as advertised rolling up fifty-nine points against the Panthers. The Bears defense, whoever, yielded thirty-seven points. The Vikings, with the help of some questionable calls by the officials, mounted a strong comeback victory against the Packers after being down for most of the game. The Bears face a much stronger defense this week, so they’ll need a much-improved performance on defense if they expect to win. Bears 27 Vikings 24

Cincinnati @ Houston – The Texans took the Bills down to the wire, but their defense was not up to the task. The Bengals have found a defense this year. They will need it Sunday as they take on a snakebitten Texans team. Houston 31 Cincinnati 24

Pittsburgh @ New England – Drake Maye’s three interceptions clearly did not help the cause, but the Patriots’ defense also failed to stop Seattle’s late scoring drives. Pittsburgh’s offense needs to improve after being saved by their defense last week against the Falcons. Patriots 27 Steelers 23

Green Bay @ New York Jets – The Packers have had a solid team, but they are starting to appear they are not finishers after starting the season as they finished in blowing a late game lead. The Jets played well on both sides of the ball in their opener against the Titans. Packers 27 Jets 20

Cleveland @ Tampa – Both teams are coming off season opening losses. The Browns stunk up both sides of the ball in their loss to the Jags while the Bucs struggled against the Bengals. Baker Mayfield will love nothing more than taking out his game-one frustration against his old team. Tampa 34 Cleveland 24

Philadelphia @ Tennessee – Last week the Titans struggled in their lopsided loss to the Jets. The Eagles did not look sharp, but they still pulled out a victory against the Commanders. Philly should get on track in a strong way this weekend. Eagles 31 Titans 17

Jacksonville @ Denver – The Jaguars had a nice tune-up game against the Browns last week while the Broncos played horrible against the Chiefs on both sides of the ball. I would expect a vastly improved Broncos team this weekend. Broncos 30 Jaguars 24

Las Vegas @ Los Angeles Chargers – The Raiders are back, Baby! Well, maybe it is a little early for that declaration. They did hang on to the win after being threatened late by the Dolphins. The Chargers looked lackluster in their loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Looking back on this season, they may point to the Cardinals game as the one that cost them the most. Look for a much more motivated Chargers team this week as one of their most hated rivals come to town. Chargers 24 Raiders 20

Seattle @ Arizona – Seattle started the season as they left off with a win over the Patriots. The Cardinals took care of business against a flat Chargers team. Sam Darnold is expected to miss this game, but the Seahawks should still have more than enough to take down the Cardinals. Seattle 23 Arizona 13

Washington @ Dallas – And here we are again. An over-hyped Dallas team face-planting on national TV once again. Some things never change. The Commanders lost to the Eagles last week, but they played hard for four quarters. Washington is more than capable of beating Dallas this week. Ah, fun times in Dallas. Cowboys 31 Washington 24

Miami @ San Francisco – The Dolphins can only hope the 49ers are suffering jetlag this week. Miami could be the worst team in the NFL this season. The 49ers posted an impressive win against the Rams last week in their game in Australia. 49ers 34 Miami 17

Sunday Night

Indianapolis @ Kansas City – The national media is once again in love with the Chiefs after their win against the Broncos. They did have an impressive ground attack and their defense played well. The Ravens racked up 506 yards of offense against, shall I say “porous” Colts defense. Chiefs 34 Colts 24

Monday Night

New York Giants @ Los Angeles Rams – The Giants stepped up under new HC John Harbaugh and dominated the Cowboys while the Rams took a long plane ride only to get stomped by division rival 49ers. I expect the Rams to win this week but do not undersell the Giants. Rams 27 Giants 20
