Jessica Van Meir of MintStars is this week’s guest on Adult Site Broker Talk.
Jessica Van Meir helped establish MintStars, an adult fansite and payment platform focused on giving creators more direct control over their content, payments, and businesses.
Van Meir is simultaneously a PhD candidate in Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. Her research there focuses on sex workers’ rights throughout Latin America.
She also co-founded the Boston Sex Workers and Allies Collective, which works toward the full decriminalization of sex work in Massachusetts.
Earlier in her career, Van Meir worked for a feminist law firm that represented victims of sexual harassment, sex trafficking, and image-based sexual abuse.
At MintStars, creators can use subscriptions, tipping, chat, and a marketplace to distribute and monetize content. The platform does not charge creator fees and provides immediate payouts and chargeback protection while maintaining relatively limited content restrictions.
MintStars recently expanded its model by introducing creator co-ownership. Content creators now collectively own 20% of the adult platform and can receive a share of its profits based on their contributions.
Van Meir’s co-founder has also created MintCash by spinning the payments operation into a new business. MintCash offers pay-ins, treasury management, and payouts through a unified platform aimed at businesses that are frequently underserved or charged higher rates by other payment providers.
