Chicago – Studio Vanniall is adding another Halloween release to its growing lineup with Cailey Katts making her first appearance for the site opposite Ashley Lake in a new cosplay vertical produced during EXXXOTICA New Jersey.
Dressed in an Evangelion Unit-02-inspired plugsuit, Katts plays a roommate eager to show off the “Halo 2 mod” she has been working on. The reveal turns out to be considerably more personal than expected, sending the nerdy roommate setup into flirtation, mutual discovery and an after-hours payoff – before one final punchline reveals Lake’s character is also late on the rent.
The release is Studio Vanniall’s first vertical to introduce a new featured performer, combining planned characters, story and studio lighting with an intentionally lo-fi presentation designed to preserve the immediacy of creator-shot content.
“We knew when we launched the studio that fans want a sense of authenticity alongside plot, and vertical videos are one of the best ways to deliver it,” said Lake. “Working with Cailey was a blast, she’s a master of the first take and that initial improv energy really helps the work feel organic and sharp.”
Lake added, “Our studio firmly believes craft is about picking the right medium for the story and for the experience that will be most impactful for the fan. Sometimes that means shooting on a phone and not our cinema camera – you couldn’t make the Blair Witch Project on an IMAX camera. For us, this is a perfect blending of our experience as indie creators and our love of production.”
Filmed while Studio Vanniall was actively casting new performers at EXXXOTICA New Jersey, the scene was produced under a paid-trade content agreement and will be distributed through the studio’s paysite and DVD channels while also remaining available directly from Katts. Studio Vanniall continues to offer performers flexible arrangements including paid bookings, trade opportunities and customized content-rights agreements based on individual business needs.
