Chicago – Inka Winter of ForPlay Films, a leading purveyor of erotica for and by women, shares her inspiring journey and vision for feminist adult cinema in a candid Q&A interview with the Adult Empire Blog.
Winter opens up about her path to creating authentic, empowering content that prioritizes female pleasure, consent and education. “I decided to create the films I wanted to see in the world,” she explains, recalling her frustration with the lack of genuine connection and respect in much of the adult content she encountered.
Her unique approach stems from personal experiences and a commitment to social activism. “This is my form of social activism,” Winter shares. “I’m hoping to create a sense of empowerment in the viewer, especially women, and also provide some education on what constitutes real pleasure and consent.”
ForPlay Films’ work reflects Winter’s belief that sex should enhance the story, rather than the other way around. “I write films where sex furthers and adds to the story instead of the story merely existing to provide a vehicle for sex,” she says.
This philosophy translates into meaningful collaborations with performers, as seen in her acclaimed feature Allure – the film recently won ‘Best Sex’ at Dan Savage’s 2025 Hump! Film Festival, alongside Winter’s short film Stay – co-starring Avery Jane and Isiah Maxwell. “Avery is an incredible performer whose genuine pleasure translates so well on camera. Isiah always brings such a positive energy to the set!”
Winter’s creative process is deeply collaborative, prioritizing performers’ input to craft scenes that align with their interests and values. Her films also incorporate subtle—and sometimes direct—elements of sex education. “In The Art of Pleasuring an AFAB Person, the talent breaks the fourth wall to explain to the viewer what they are doing and how it makes them feel,” she reveals.
Through her work, Winter aims to challenge societal norms and promote a healthier understanding of sexuality. “Communication, self-awareness, and healthy boundaries,” she asserts, are key to a fulfilling sex life.
