Chicago — American sexologist Dr. Susan Block delivered her sixth annual State of the Sexual Union (SOTSU) address on Active Radio, hosted by Hartley Pleshaw on WCAP-AM 980. Broadcast live 2.14.2026, it is now available across multiple platforms.

Dr. Suzy’s SOTSU 2026 is a powerful proclamation of love, sex-positivity, sorrow, humor, responsibility and resilience, blending her deeply personal grief over the recent passing of her beloved husband Max (November 8, 1943 – May 13, 2025) with a scathing critique of current societal traumas, prescribing “therapy for all,” while urging her audience to embrace bonobo-inspired love and healing connections between consenting adults.

“This is what so many people have been waiting for all year,” Hartley shared, “for America’s leading sexologist and #1 sex therapist Dr. Susan Block to bestow upon us the State of the Sexual Union. And it couldn’t come at a more appropriate time.”

For the past five years, Bonobo Way author, therapist and media personality (best known for her HBO specials) Dr. Suzy has delivered her SOTSU after the U.S. President’s State of the Union (SOTU). This year, she went first.

“I see no reason to wait for U.S. President Donald Trump to deliver more lies and abuse to the spirit of our country, including our sexual spirit,” explains Dr. Suzy. “If anyone in his Family Circus of clowns, thieves, traitors, fixers, censors, cover-uppers, close relatives and ammosexual incels had a sliver of integrity, he wouldn’t even be giving SOTU 2026. He would be in therapy – mandated by his prison warden.”

SOTSU 2026 takes on the current intersection of politics and sexuality, including the release of the infamous Epstein files, American ICE and War Department kidnappings, the ominous Censorship Industrial Complex, the gross criminal conduct of the “Trump/Epstein/ICE/Zuckerberg/Palantir Mafia of Creeps,” plus Valentine history and the effects of rage and trauma-triggering “news” on our personal relationships, as well as our sexual health.

“Victims, perpetrators – and observers – all of us have been traumatized by Epstein, ICE and the Internet,” noted Dr. Suzy. Her prescription for healing from this collective trauma is resistance to tyranny, official accountability, free speech, plus real-life counseling and therapy for all.

Sharing her personal grief over the recent death of her beloved husband, partner, publisher, producer, broadcaster and Free Speech activist Maximillian Lobkowicz di Filangieri, aka Captain Max, Dr. Suzy also declared Max’s birthday, November 8th, to be “Free Speech Day” in Bonoboville.

Returning to the bonobos as models of peace through pleasurefemale empowermentmale well-beingsharingcaregiving – and even mourning – SOTSU 2026 ended on an upbeat. Dr. Suzy and Hartley memorialized Dr. Jane Goodall (4/3/1934 -10/1/2025) for her distinguished work in Great Ape conservation and human understanding. Journalist Tom Quinn had nicknamed Dr. Suzy “Jane Goodall After Dark,” and she encouraged SOTSU listeners to take heart from great trailblazers like Dr. Jane and Captain Max, and not let the “creeps in power” destroy our enjoyment of healthy, consenting-adult sexuality – nor our essential trust in one another.
