Chicago – Savannah Sly is the founder and co-director of New Moon Network, a non-profit that strives to strengthen the movement for sex workers’ rights through funding, technical assistance, and leadership development.
She is a board member of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, the only organization in the United States focused on defending sexual freedom as a fundamental human right.
She also serves on the global steering committee of the Sex Work Donor Collaborative and has been an advocate for the rights and well-being of people in the sex trade since 2013.
Drawing on both lived and studied experience, she speaks to the impacts of criminalization, surveillance, discrimination, and stigma on sex workers and advocates for holistic solutions to reduce exploitation in the sex trade.
She has played a key role as a coalition organizer for the ACLU’s Tech Equity Coalition. She has been involved in numerous grassroots sex worker initiatives, including the OldProProject, SWOP-Seattle, and the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA, where she served as board president.
Her commentary has appeared in publications such as Brookings, Teen Vogue, and Psychology Today.
New Moon Network supports sex workers and survivor-led organizations in the United States that work to advance the rights and welfare of those with lived experience in the sex trade.
As an intermediary fund, New Moon directs financial resources to the sex workers’ rights movement and assists grassroots leaders with grant writing, fiscal sponsorship, and budgeting.
In addition, the New Moon team advises corporations, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals on identifying impactful projects and opportunities.
Since its inception in 2022, New Moon has brokered investments of $1.5 million into 50+ sex worker-led organizations in the US.
