Chicago – Sexpo is set to return to Perth this September after founder David Ross, often referred to as Mr. Sexpo, reacquired the brand following the collapse of its previous operator, marking a major comeback for Australia’s most recognisable adult lifestyle event.

Sexpo was most recently operated by Australian Exhibition Group Pty. Ltd. (AEG), which purchased the event in 2019. The company announced an indefinite postponement of events in September 2024 before entering liquidation a month later.

“This isn’t just a relaunch — it’s a reset, Sexpo 2.0,” Ross said.

“Sexpo lost its way in recent years as AEG strayed from my original concept of producing female friendly events that are inclusive, a place for fun and celebration; events that showcase more than just sex-related content.

“After finalising the purchase of the Sexpo assets from the liquidator, we will return Sexpo to what made it so successful: a mainstream, inclusive event focused on lifestyle, entertainment and well-being as much as adult content.

“To mark the launch of the Perth event, we’re thrilled to announce AdultShop as our naming right partner, with the Perth event to now be referred to as The AdultShop Sexpo,” he said.

Karl Frost, CEO of AdultShop says, “AdultShop has always enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Sexpo so we were thrilled to hear that the relaunched Sexpo would make its debut in our hometown.

“As the largest retailer of adult products in Western Australia, with 12 shops, we will have a major presence at The AdultShop Sexpo. We are genuinely excited to meet our current and future customers, and with that in mind, we will be offering our retail customers a 15% discount on tickets via our retail outlets from May 14th, he said.

Founded in Australia in 1996, Sexpo grew into an internationally recognised event, with early events attracting crowds of up to 68,000 attendees. Organisers say the Perth event will restore the broad consumer appeal that made the event so popular with women.

The 2026 event will feature a mix of lifestyle exhibitors, fashion and accessories, beauty services, live entertainment and curated adult-industry content, with an emphasis on female-friendly and inclusive programming.

Organisers say the return to Perth is expected to draw significant intra and interstate visitors and re-establish the event as a major fixture on the city’s events calendar.
