Thursday
When the schedule came out earlier this year, the Christmas games looked exciting. Now the most exciting thing about these games is watching Grandpa pass out in the eggnog.
Dallas @ Washington – Dallas is the best 6 – 8 – 1 team in the league riding a 3 – game losing streak while the Commanders have lost four or their last five games. Throw another yule log on the fire for this barnburner. Dallas 27 Washington 20
Detroit @ Minnesota – When the schedule came out, many anticipated this game could be for the division. Currently the Vikings are out of the playoffs and the Lions need to win out and get a ton of help to have a shot at a wild card berth. The Vikings QB situation is a mess, and I don’t think they have enough to post an upset. Lions 31 Vikings 20
Denver @ Kansas City – Should be a hostile environment in KC for THE CHIEFS Christmas night. Why you ask? The team stinks and they announced they’re moving to Kansas this week. Oh, and they’re facing a pissed off Broncos team now fighting for control of the AFC West. Broncos 34 Chiefs 17
Saturday
Houston @ Los Angeles Chargers – The Chargers have clinched a playoff spot, and they are still in the running to win the AFC West riding a 4 – game winning streak into this game. Houston has a 7 – game winning streak but are outside looking is as they find themselves a game behind the Jags for the AFC South title. This game should have a playoff feel to it. Chargers 27 Texans 24
Baltimore @ Green Bay – It appears that Jordan Love should start for the Packers, but nothing has been made official as I write this. The Ravens still have a slim shot at the playoffs, but that team hasn’t been firing on all cylinders all year, why should they start now. Packers 27 Ravens 24
Sunday
Seattle @ Carolina – Both teams need this win to boost their playoff positions, although Seattle has qualified, they still haven’t locked up their division or home field. With a win, Carolina would lock up the NFC South. Seattle 30 Carolina 24
Arizona @ Cincinnati – Why should the Cardinals care? A win would just lower their draft seeding at this point. The Bengals play this game hoping to save jobs. Bengals 34 Cardinals 20
Pittsburgh @ Cleveland – An interesting game. A Steelers win and they lock up the AFC North. Does Myles Garrett get the sack record? Do the Browns pull an upset? Steelers 27 Browns 20…And Myles gets the sack record.
Jacksonville @ Indianapolis – The thrill of Philip Rivers’ return to the Colts should have worn off by now. The Colts have lost five games in a row facing a Jags team on a six-game winning streak after giving a beatdown to the Broncos on the road last week. The Jags can wrap up the AFC South with a win. Jags 34 Colts 24
Tampa Bay @ Miami – Both teams have underperformed this season, especially Tampa of late, losing their last three games and probably a playoff berth. Both teams, the Dolphins for sure, should be looking for new head coaches’ next season. I’ve picked Tampa to win the last three games, why change now. Buccaneers 24 Dolphins 20
New England @ NY Jets – The Patriots have the Bills breathing down their necks for first place in the AFC East. No time to screw around and dump one to the Jets. Patriots 34 Jets 17
New Orleans @ Tennessee – The Saints have won three games in a while the Titans destroyed a depleted Chiefs team. This could be a fun game to watch. Saints 24 Titans 23
NY Giants @ Las Vegas – The season can’t end soon enough for both squads. They combine for a record of 4 – 26 and both teams have lost their last 9 games each. So, toss the records out the window, sit back, and watch some really crappy football. The Raiders are 1 – 6 at home and the Giants haven’t won a road game all year. Raiders 23 Giants 20
Philadelphia @ Buffalo – The Eagles have the NFC East wrapped up and the Bills are in the playoffs but still have a shot at the division and the one seed if everything falls their way. Bills 31 Eagles 24
Chicago @ San Francisco – So many playoff ramifications to this game. If the Ravens beat the Packers Saturday, the Bears, already in the playoffs, will be crowned NFC North Champions before this game kicks off. The 49ers too are already in the playoffs but trail the Seahawks by one game for the NFC West Championship. If the Bears keep low scoring, they have a shot. If it’s a high-scoring affair, the 49ers win easily. 49ers 30 Bears 24
Monday Night
LA Rams @ Atlanta – The Rams are locked into a playoff berth and will need a lot of help to win the West and get a first round bye. The Falcons have won their last two games. This game should be fun to watch, but the Rams check all the boxes at this point. Rams 30 Falcons 20
